Typography Illusions: Lower is… bigger
An optical illusion makes some glyphs look really bad when turned upside down. In this article you will learn how type designers give their glyphs an illusion of balance.
Typography Illusions: Congestions and Tapering
Whenever two lines of a glyph meet it gives birth to an optical effect called congestion. We perceive it as bloating or blotching. However there are methods to counteract it.
Typography Illusions: Intersections
Intersecting lines are not common in the latin alphabet, so we don't think about them a lot. However there is more to them than meets the eye.

About me
My name is Piotr Łukaszkiewicz and, just like you, I love typography. I find that this overlooked field of design stands at the very base of our ability to communicate as a species. And our species, more than ever, relies on its ability to communicate. That is why I have decided to give this creative area all my time and energy.
My other interests are self development and good business practices. That’s why working with me you can count on me treating every project seriously and communicating clearly and honestly.
Please take a while to browse through my portfolio or to read an article on my blog.

My offer
To my clients I offer a range of services related to my field of study: typography.
Typefaces
To brands trying to differentiate themselves on the market I propose designing a custom typeface. A new font will be created as a part of this service (a whole family of fonts, depending on the scope of the project). Benchmark language support is Adobe Latin 3, but more languages can be incorporated. Having a custom typeface can be a sound investment for bigger companies, to whom licensing better known fonts can be a drain on the budget.
I am also able to improve or expand an existing typeface, if the customer possess relevant licenses. I will gladly help with testing or designing kerning for fonts still under development.
Consulting
Legibility and readability of text is almost just as important as its content. If you own a blog, a website or a magazine, it may be worth checking if it is designed following a clear visual hierarchy, if the text is easy to read and not tiring to the eyes. It is easy to discourage potential users from accessing valuable content if it is not presented in the right setting.
If you would like to hire me for a different project, contact me.
The key issue for me is that every project I work on contributes to my clients’ success and brings them the most value possible. To achieve this goal I follow a clearly defined process. If you wish to work with me, you will have to accept the process too.
The first step is an analysis of the project goals, performed jointly with the client. When the goals are clear, we then reflect if the planned course of action will really help to achieve them. If we are convinced that it will, we then proceed to establish how much value will reaching these goals bring to the client.
Up to this point we do not talk about money at all. Only after all of the above steps are completed we determine my salary. Afterwards the clients sends all the necessary materials and we sign a contract. After the contract is signed, I receive a down payment and I begin the work (in that order).
When the creative work is complete, I present the results to the client for acceptance and eventual fine tuning. I send all files and agreed materials after I receive the second part of my salary.
